Patrik Eklund, PhD and habilitation in mathematics (Åbo Akademi University, Finland), professor in computer science at Umeå University, Sweden (Swedish Government nomination in 1995), is involved in research both on the theoretical as well the applied side. He has been involved in medical and health informatics research based on information infrastructures and platforms, including various patient record systems and repositories. He has participated in collaboration within EIP AHA, and the action group on falls prevention. He engages in debating the depth of logic for the World Health Organization Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC). Based on his mathematical background, he develops methods and tools in many-valued logic, in particular useful for analytics and development of guidelines in health and social care.
